Manhattan Tennis Academy Programs
"Playing 2 times per week you improve 4 times Faster"

All groups are put together primarily based on tennis ability at the discretion of The Manhattan Tennis Academy

Combining 20 years of tennis industry experience with the USTA's 10 and Under Tennis initiative, The Manhattan Tennis Academy's Executive Director has created a systematic program that will advance your child from one level to the next, while maintaining a fun—yet challenging tennis experience.

Quick Start Program (Red - Balls) Ages 4-8

Your child’s first experience on a tennis court. This program is all about keeping it fun and exciting, while establishing a foundation for gross motor skill development. Basic movement and coordination skills will be introduced. QS children will learn to send the ball with their hands, scaled down racquets and other equipment that fosters enjoyable learning experiences.

Your child will learn the first stages of cooperative tennis through self and partner rallying skills on the easy to use 36’ court. Your child will learn how to initiate a rally, how to move and judge a ball, and how to control height, direction and depth on the court.

Junior Development Program
(Orange/Green/Yellow Balls) Ages 9-12

Children in this program will start to focus on full swing production on all strokes including forehand, backhand, volley, serve, and return of serve. Utilizing the 60’ court modifications, children in this program will learn to rally back and forth, experimenting with different spins and pace. As the skill set of each group progresses, instruction will transition to full size 78' courts.

Competitive Training Program (Green Balls/Yellow Balls) Ages 10-16

The two hour Competitive Training Program takes all the skill sets taught in the JDP and introduces more advanced drill and play based situations. A typcial day in the CTP will consist of 1 hour of intense situational drilling followed by a second hour of match play. More experienced/skilled players should consider this program.
